A heartbreaking tragedy has struck a family in Oklahoma City after 18-month-old twins, Locklyn and Loreli, drowned in their backyard pool. The toddlers managed to slip outside after their great-grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, unintentionally left a back door open. Their mother, 37-year-old Jenny Callazzo, found them unconscious in the water on a Thursday morning.
Despite the efforts of emergency responders, both children were pronounced dead two hours later. Jenny lives in the home with her husband Sonny, their six children, and her grandmother. A relative confirmed that the accident occurred due to the open door, which allowed the twins to access the pool unnoticed.
Aerial footage showed the pool was covered in algae, drawing attention to potential safety risks. Police are investigating, though no foul play is suspected. The tragedy has deeply shaken the community. Just days before, Jenny had shared joyful photos of her twins playing outside. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family cope with the unexpected costs and emotional toll.

Laura Gamino, a trauma injury prevention coordinator at OU Health, stressed the importance of pool safety, especially for young children who can drown quickly and silently.

She advised installing at least 4-foot-high fences with secure gates to prevent similar tragedies.
As the community mourns the loss of Locklyn and Loreli, this devastating event serves as a powerful reminder of how crucial it is to take every precaution around water. Let this be a call for increased awareness, education, and action to help protect children and prevent future heartbreaks.
